Bookbinding 101 With Mordicai Book Building
About this event
Join Tobie DePauw of Mordecai Book Building for an immersive three hour workshop where creativity meets craftsmanship. Learn the fundamentals of bookbinding while building a hardcover journal from start to finish. You will sew signatures using basic kettle stitching, construct and mount your own covers, and explore a hybrid approach that blends coptic and case binding techniques.
Choose your cover materials and end sheets to shape a book that reflects your personal vision, then complete your work with custom hot foil embossing for a refined, professional finish. Designed for beginners and book arts enthusiasts alike, this hands on workshop includes all tools and materials. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to make something by hand. There will be a $25 material fee payable during class.
